History of R & R Poultry
Pty Ltd
R
& R Poultry Pty Ltd was conceived by Rhys Jones in the
back of a small butcher shop which was located in the Brisbane suburb
of Mt Gravatt about seven years ago.
After a thorough investigation, it appeared that
the food services industry was not being serviced by suppliers who
could offer quality portion controlled poultry products. Then R
& R Poultry Pty Ltd entered the market with freshly
vacuum packed poultry products, offering our customers a guaranteed
fourteen day lifespan under the correct refrigeration temperatures
(0° to 2°)
Rhys Jones proceeded to convince several of
Brisbane's leading chefs that R & R
Poultry Pty Ltd could supply poultry products to their
exact specification. Since then the business flourished and was well
on its way to becoming South East Queenslands' major suppliers of
fresh portion controlled poultry products.
The small butcher shop in Mr Gravatt was
converted into a poultry boning room, we outgrew these premises in a
very short time. Therefore we relocated into new, large and very
sophisticated premises in the Brisbane suburb of Morningside, so we
could comfortably cater for our vastly expanding business.
Now, once again, several years later, we are
looking at moving into even larger new premises to enable us to expand
interstate and export overseas.
Accreditation
For R & R Poultry
Pty Ltd to become the market leader in Queensland we needed
to provide our valued customers many extra services, which included
the following:
- Full accreditation with the "Queensland
Safe Food Authority" with which we hold the highest level
number one rating with our modern refrigerated premises.
- Halal accreditation with the "Australian
Federation of Islamic Councils Incorporated".
- Transafe accreditation, which allows us to
operate our fleet of modern refrigeration vehicles.
- "Bartter Steggles" who are our
major supplier of fresh poultry, turkey and further processed
products, have the highest level of accreditation, ISO9002
Processing and
Packaging Procedures:
"Bartter
Steggles" birds are slaughtered at approximately 2.00pm the day
before delivery and delivered to our premises at 3.00am the following
day. The birds are de-boned and vacuum packaged on our premises by
6.00am to reduce bacteria growth to an absolute minimum and delivered
to our valued customers the same day.
All our products are vacuum packaged for the
following reasons:
- To inhibit bacteria growth.
- To prevent cross contamination
- Avoid any unwanted discharge in storage and
transportation.
- Allows a fourteen day lifespan on fresh
poultry, which we believe is unmatched by any of our competitors.
The produce is then loaded into one of our many
"Quality Assured" refrigerated vehicles and transported to
its' destinations.
